StomperNet and Success

It's no secret that I owe my success to the folks at StomperNet.  The fact is, before November of 2006, I really had no idea how to start an online business nor the steps needed to be taken to make sure that I was doing the right things when it comes to opening an online business.  For the past 10+ years, I was busy doing website design and although I was not oblivous to how important search engines were, it never mattered to me.  I was making money building and designing websites for other people.

This all changed when I got an email from Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon.  They were promoting a new ultimate resource on search engine marketing for anyone that really wanted to understand how to make it all work.  As with most things, I was skeptical because of the price tag.  They were not asking for a one time fee for some lame e-book.  They were asking for a one year membership to have access to a complete SEO world.  A world that literally takes you by the hand and shows the ropes.  Everything from which shopping cart to use to where to find a product to SEO to email campaigns and so much more.  And all this right at your finger tips.

The best way to understand what I am talking about is to go watch my video testimonial. In this video, I tell all.  Exactly what StomperNet has done for me and how it can help you too!

Jeff :

Having read through extensive material on improving search engine ranking results, the evidence is clear that proper linking is the key. However, with all of the discussions surrounding linking (i.e. how to link, with whom to link, etc.), I am not sure how I would proceed adding link after link to a very polished looking online retail store. You have to admit that having lots of links to outside sources would tend to "clutter" a professional looking online store. How should one properly "link" with a site that does not have (or would not want to have) a "trade links with us" page on their site? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff

Britt :

Well first things first. Your site is nice, but not that polished. Remember, people searching for cuff links already know that they go on a shirt and usually worn by men so the HUGE graphic you have at the top of your home page does absolutely nothing for you, your customers or your store. It adds no value what-so-ever. Secondly, the bar at the top (the nav) with home, about us, customer service, etc needs to be removed. After testing on my own site, only the home and shopping cart need to be at the top. If you decide to leave them fine, but NO FOLLOW them ASAP. Don't pass your coveted Page Rank to non-product pages. Just a waste. Lastly, you need more warm and fuzzies at the top of your website. Credit Card logos, Hackersafe, BBB Online, Hours, Phone number, etc. Why even have the phrase "Your source for cufflinks, ties neckware and more" if the search engines can't read it? Another waste…

Anyway, you asked about links.
Your left side navigation is your biggest problem. It should be;
Animal Cufflinks (you are not selling animals)
Sport Cufflinks (you will never show up in the SERPS for sports)
Buiness Cufflinks (what is careers? You really think you are gonna show up for a keyword like careers? No way!)
etc

If you would like some 1 on 1 time or would like your site revamped, let me know and we can figure out a price. Right now…you are doomed for failure before you even get started.

Brit-

Thanks for the comments…very much appreciated. I'll work on a couple of these things (they're quick fixes). I'll need some help on a couple of others. I had this site designed (solid cactus) so I don't know how I go about modifying some of this without the "code".

1 on 1 would be helpful. Let's talk. You have my e-mail (jmpiper@excite.com).

Thanks again,

Jeff

Brit, i read your comment below in quotes:
"They were asking for a one year membership to have access to a complete SEO world."
Were you under the impression that you paid a one year membership and you had access for life? I was… now i am finding out you have to pay forever. When did they change the rules??
LA

Britt :

I am fairly sure it was never intended to be a lifetime membership. Having said that, if you are not going to stick around for Stomper 2.0 then I would suggest you go and download as many of the vids that you can before your membership expires. Also, always remember, I am always around to help with questions.

Be on the lookout for my upcoming project that will surely help anyone that is looking to build an online exommerce store. We will have step by step video tutorials and active community forum. It should be great. I am hoping to launch in Jan so be sure to get on the mailing list.
