Yahoo Store Design
Listen folks and listen carefully because this is critically important to your success. When you have decided on a product and domain name or business name the next obvious step is to find a programmer to setup and design your Yahoo Store. Most of these programmers do a fanatstic job of programming the RTML templates (RTML is a custom programming language used by the Yahoo store) but they are very basic at design. Remember, this is YOUR store and YOU have to be the one in charge of YOUR store. Do not leave this crucuial process in the hands of your programmer. They make their money programming stores and could care less (most of the time) if you ever make a dime!
You have to have an idea in mind and you have to have thought about the navigation process and flow of your store. You have to know what you want in the header and if you want categories or no categories. You have to know if you want a top navigation, left side navigation and bottom or footer navigation. You need to know what pieces you want in each area. The most painful way of doing design is to just tell the designer "I trust you…do what you think is best." Thats a crock! If you do that…just call me and give me your money because basically thats all you are doing. Throwing your money away is not smart so DO NOT DO IT!
If you are looking for a Yahoo Store designer to design your site, call me. I can help. Since I own and operate my own ecommerce stores I already know what you need and can help guide you through the process of designing your skin. Once the design is done, you then hand it over to the programmer and tell them to "skin" your Yahoo Store.
Trust me on this…this path costs a little more but it is worth it in the long run and will save you tons and time and energy over the long haul. If you need step by step help, then check out Y Store Tutorials.
